Recent Projects
ETI is running a five year research project to study two crucial problems in early education: school readiness and learning loss during summer vacation. In these experimental studies we are comparing state-wide samples of treatment and control students to determine the effectiveness of educational technology on literacy achievement, school readiness and preventing an academic summer slide.
We are studying the effectiveness of educational technology on raising K-3 literacy achievement for the Utah State Office of Education. Our role is to study the application of eight different technologies in schools, and determine their effectiveness as a whole and relative to each other. We support the state’s policy makers with empirical evidence on the program’s implementation as well as achievement results based on the rigorous matching of treatment and control students.
We are studying the implementation and impact of brain-based integrated arts and Common Core inquiry units designed by Glendale Unified School district through a U.S. Department Office of Innovation and Improvement grant. Our evaluation utilizes secondary data from school-wide assessments and a control group to determine the impact of the units on student achievement in ELA and Math.
